Maxim made his professional compositional debut while still in high school, scoring several off-Broadway plays, for which he received the ASCAP/Boosey & Hawkes prize. He has since gone on to write and co-write numerous songs as well as incidental music for theater, dance and film.

Maxim has composed music for several documentary films, including Hidden Battles (2010)  and Doctors Of The Dark Side (2011) . Watch excerpts from both films below.

Maxim and his writing partner Julia Frodahl produced Red, a dance play for TPAC Artist In Residence Katie Workum and are currently writing music for a dance play entitled Shadows.
